Six via ferrata and via corda routes across Ardèche, priced between 37 € and 50 €, all running from May through October. Most sessions last a half day, with two routes clocking in at exactly 3h. Two physical levels split the lineup: four routes rated "Occasionally sporty" suit beginners building confidence on iron rungs and steel cables, while the two "Sporty" options, both in the Chassezac Gorges and Berrias-Casteljau area, push harder on endurance and grip strength. Budget-focused? Start at 37 € with Ceven Aventure in Casteljau. Want maximum intensity for a modest price jump? The 48 € underground route by Aventerra delivers the steepest physical demand in the lineup. One simple rule: pick your physical level first, then sort by price.
Via Corda of Cirque d’Endieu in Casteljau, Ardèche
At 37 €, the Via Corda of Cirque d'Endieu with Ceven Aventure is the cheapest entry point in the lineup, available in French and English.
Endieu Via Souterrata in the Chassezac Gorges near Les Vans, Ardèche
The Endieu Via Souterrata with Aventerra is the only "Sporty"-rated route set inside the Chassezac Gorges, combining underground terrain with a sustained 3h physical effort at 48 €.
Via ferrata of the Devil's Bridge at Thueyts in Ardèche
The Devil's Bridge via ferrata at Thueyts with Face Sud runs 3h at 45 €, rated "Occasionally sporty" and guided in both French and English.
Via corda at the Jardin d'endieu in Berrias-Casteljau, Ardèche
The Via Corda at Jardin d'Endieu with Ardeche-Outdoor-Activites runs 2.5h at 50 € with a "Sporty" rating and bilingual guiding, making it the sharpest social challenge in the list.
The "Sporty" routes, especially the Endieu Via Souterrata through the Chassezac Gorges, deliver the sharpest physical peak: sustained climbing sections through a underground canyon where grip, core strength and nerves all get tested at once.
A healthy respect for exposure helps, but via ferrata is designed to keep you clipped in at all times. The four "Occasionally sporty" routes here are specifically rated for people with limited exposure experience.
The Endieu Via Souterrata at 48 € with Aventerra is the only route rated "Sporty" and set inside a gorge, combining height, darkness and physical demand into a single 3h session.
Yes. Four of the six routes are rated "Occasionally sporty", which means guided sessions are accessible to first-timers. All operators provide harnesses and helmets, and guides cover the basics on-site before you clip in.
Five of the six tours are available in both French and English. Only the Endieu Via Souterrata with Aventerra runs in French only, so factor that in if you're not comfortable with French instruction.
Book at least 2 weeks ahead for July and August. Ardèche is one of the most popular outdoor destinations in southern France during summer, and guided slots on the Devil's Bridge routes fill quickly.
