How to choose

Both tours launch from the same spot in Mozirje and are run by Perut Paragliding, but they target very different goals. The 130 € full-day course is rated "Sporty" and focuses on learning to fly: expect ground training, theory and multiple practice flights over the Savinja Valley. At 140 €, the 2h tandem flight is rated "Occasionally sporty" and requires zero prior experience. You show up, a certified pilot does the work, and you're airborne. The 10 € gap is irrelevant compared to the intent gap. Choose the course if you want to pilot the glider yourself. Choose the tandem if you want the altitude without the commitment.

Frequently asked questions

What's the most intense moment of a tandem paragliding flight?

The launch off the ridge is typically the sharpest adrenaline spike: you go from standing still to airborne in a few running steps. After that, the flight smooths out as you glide above the Savinja Valley.

Do I need to fear heights to enjoy this?

A healthy respect for altitude is normal. Once you're in the air, most passengers report that the sensation feels more like floating than falling. The tandem format means you're clipped to a certified pilot the entire time.

What's the difference in physical effort between the two tours?

The full-day course is rated "Sporty" and requires active participation, repeated runs on the training slope and sustained focus over a full day. The tandem flight is "Occasionally sporty": you run a few steps at launch and landing, nothing more.

When is the best season to fly over the Kamnik-Savinja Alps?

The season runs from May through September. Thermal conditions are strongest in midsummer, which produces longer glides but also more turbulence. May and September offer calmer air and clearer visibility.

Can complete beginners book the full-day course?

Yes. The course with Perut Paragliding is designed as an introduction to paragliding, so no prior experience is required. The "Sporty" physical level means you should be comfortable with moderate physical activity and capable of running on uneven terrain.

Equipment

Wear sturdy lace-up shoes with ankle support: the full-day course involves repeated runs on grassy slopes and the "Sporty" rating demands stable footing. For the tandem flight, comfortable layers work fine since the 2h outing includes time at altitude where temperatures drop noticeably.

Getting there

Both tours meet at Jager Mozirje Parking Lot, Orožnova Street, 3330 Mozirje, Slovenia, roughly 90 km northeast of Ljubljana via the A1/E57 motorway.
